Atal Setu Mumbai India’s Longest Sea Bridge Grand Inauguration 2024 By PM Modi

Atal Setu Inauguration By PM Modi:

“Over the past decade, our country has seen its dreams come true and challenges turned into successes. Atal Setu symbolizes this feeling, showcasing the incredible journey of turning aspirations into reality.”

“Guess what? Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri – Nhava Sheva Atal Setu on January 12! And just recently, he posted a video talking about why this bridge, also called the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), is a big deal.”

About Mumbai Trans Harbour Link:

  1. Whoa! So, there’s this mega bridge in Mumbai called the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Trans Harbour Link, or you can just call it the Sewri–Nhava Sheva Trans Harbour Link. It’s a super-long 21.8 km (13.5 mi) elevated road bridge that connects Mumbai to its buddy city, Navi Mumbai.
  2. Get this – it’s not just any bridge; it’s officially the longest sea bridge in India and ranks as the 12th longest sea bridge in the world. Big deal, right?
  3. The bridge starts in Sewri, down in South Mumbai, goes over Thane Creek near Elephanta Island, and ends up at Chirle near Nhava Sheva in Uran taluka.
  4. Picture this – it’s not just one tiny lane; it’s a whopping 6-lane highway, a cool 27 meters wide. And if that’s not enough, there are also emergency exit lanes, edge strips, crash barriers, and noise barriers on both sides. Fancy!
  5. Now, let’s talk money – the whole project cost a mind-blowing ₹17,843 crore (that’s US$2.2 billion). Yeah, it’s huge!
  6. Hold onto your seat – this bridge can handle a whopping 70,000 vehicles every single day. That’s like a whole city crossing over!
  7. They kicked off building this beast in April 2018, and guess what? Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself cut the ribbon and inaugurated it on January 12, 2024. Talk about making an entrance!

Main Objective of this Great Bridge Atal Setu:

  1. Boom! So, why build this massive bridge? Well, the main deal is to make getting to Mumbai International Airport and Navi Mumbai International Airport a breeze. Say goodbye to long travel times to Pune, Goa, and South India – this bridge is here to slash those!
  2. Hold onto your hat – it’s not just about airports. They’re also hooking up Mumbai Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port to boost connectivity. Talk about making things smoother for everyone!
  3. Security is no joke here – the government slapped on almost 400 cameras, including thermal ones that can sniff out fog. They’re going all out to keep things safe on this bridge.
  4. Here’s a cool twist – they’re splitting the policing job. The first 10.8 km, starting from Sewri in Mumbai, falls under one police station. The rest of the way, handled by Uran in Navi Mumbai, comes under another. Double the police power for double the safety!

Speed Limit Atal Setu:

Alright, speed demons, listen up! If you’re cruising in a car, taxi, or any four-wheeler, the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) says you can zoom at 100 km per hour. But hold your horses – when you’re going up or down the bridge, slow down to a cool 40 km per hour. Why? Well, according to the Mumbai police, it’s to dodge any danger, roadblocks, and keep things hassle-free for everyone on the road. Safety first, folks!

Restricted Vehicles On Atal Setu:

  1. Heads up, road trippers! There’s a no-entry sign for some wheels on the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu.
  2. First off, if you’re rolling in on a motorbike or moped, sorry, the bridge isn’t open for you.
  3. Three-wheelers, like tempos and auto-rickshaws, are a no-go as well.
  4. Farmers, leave your tractors and tractors with empty trailers at home – they won’t make it across.
  5. Even if you’re feeling old-school with an animal-drawn vehicle or a slow-moving ride, this bridge isn’t your route. Better find another way to roll!
