Due to unfavorable remarks about India from prominent figures in the Maldives on Twitter, Indian tourists went vocal for local,several Indian celebrities and influencers are urging the public to reconsider trips to the Maldives and explore domestic destinations. Figures like Akshay Kumar, Sachin Tendulkar, and cricketer Aakash Chopra, among others, are advocating for the cancellation of Maldives plans. On the contrary, celebrities like Salman Khan, John Abraham, Shraddha Kapoor, and others are expressing admiration for the beauty of Lakshadweep.

Prashant Pitti, the CEO of EaseMyTrip, received praise on social media for actively supporting local sentiments by temporarily halting all flight bookings to the Maldives on the platform. This move comes in the wake of controversial comments made by Maldivian ministers following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep. In response, Pitti stated, “Our company has decided not to accept bookings for the Maldives, prioritizing ‘nation first and business later’ in light of the situation.” He added that his aspiration is to position Ayodhya and Lakshadweep as global destinations.
