On January 30, 2024, a significant milestone was reached as the European Union (EU) officially joined the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) as a Dialogue Partner. This partnership marks a crucial step towards bolstering cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), with the EU becoming the first intergovernmental organization to engage in this capacity.
